The Washington grate cent
The Liberty & Security halfpenny

Both coins bearing George Washington’s portrait are part of a series produced in England between 1783 and 1795. The back of the cent shows a fireplace and grate. The back of the halfpenny shows motifs common on later U.S. coins: the eagle, shield, and stars.
