| America’s most beautiful money These silver certificates are from the “educational series” of 1896, widely considered the most beautiful paper money ever issued in the United States. Only a few of these notes exist today. The $5 note, designed by the artist Shirlaw, depicts “Electricity Presenting Light to the World.” The $1 note shows “History Instructing Youth,” and the $2 note shows “Science Presenting Steam and Electricity to Commerce and Manufacturers.” |
