Issues of International Trade
Sponsored by the Birmingham Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the Foundation for Teaching Economics
Thursday, June 12, 2008
9 a.m.–3 p.m. (CT)
Location: The Birmingham Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
International trade has the great advantage of providing ready-made material for teachers wanting to engage student interest in current events. On the other hand, the complexity of the issues surrounding trade is daunting. Although economic reasoning doesn't guarantee resolution of the issues, it is a powerful tool of critical thinking that brings clarity to the discussion of current events. This workshop will offer examples and classroom activities that help students build a foundation for their opinion on the news of the day.
A complimentary lunch and free materials will be provided. Space is limited! This year we are collecting from three to five canned goods per workshop for the United Way Community Food Bank. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
Your registration is not complete until you have sent a $25 check, which is required for registration by the Foundation for Teaching Economics. This amount will be refunded upon completion of the program.
Please make checks payable to the Foundation for Teaching Economics and mail it to
