Teaching Ethical Foundations

Sponsored by the Birmingham Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the University of Alabama at Birmingham

Wednesday, June 18, 2008
9 a.m.–3 p.m. (CT)

Location: The Birmingham Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta

The lessons in this workshop show the important role ethics and character play in a market economy and how, in turn, markets influence ethical behavior. The lessons reintroduce a dimension to economics in the tradition of Adam Smith, who believed ethical considerations were central to life. Lessons actively involve students through simulations, group decision making, problem solving, classroom demonstrations, and role playing.

A complimentary lunch and free materials will be provided. Space is limited. This year we are collecting from three to five canned goods per workshop for the United Way Community Food Bank. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
