The first-quarter edition of Financial Update's "ViewPoint" includes sections on southeastern and national banking trends and such timely topics as interest rate risk and the results from the latest round of bank stress tests.
The latest edition also includes a summary of the Atlanta Fed's 2013 banking outlook conference. Several themes emerged from the February conference, aptly themed "Navigating the New Banking Landscape." Among them were the gradually improving economic and residential real estate conditions, the impact of new banking regulations, and the growing threats of reputational risk and cyber-attacks. This year's conference marked the first time in many years in which "credit quality challenges seemed to take a back seat to revenue and expense considerations," said Senior Vice President Mike Johnson.
