D6 Factor

In December 2007, the D6 Factor was 3.1 percentage points below trend. (The historical trend growth rate is normalized to zero in the chart.) Some of this decline is related to the recent volatility in some of the series used in the factor model. Nevertheless, an unmistakable downward trend has occurred in the D6 Factor over the past two years, with the rate of decline increasing during 2007. A somewhat similar decline occurred between 1999 and 2001.
