The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and Dr. Elise Langan, assistant professor at Middle Georgia College, are hosting a free workshop for high school social studies educators on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. The workshop will demonstrate how teachers can use tools available from the Library of Congress and will include classroom-ready model lessons. Teachers will practice the analytical skills their students need by using primary sources, learn to access and integrate primary sources into standards-based student learning activities, and understand how they can help their students meet the Common Core Literacy Standards in History/Social Studies.
The education staff of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta will demonstrate new hands-on lessons as well as online courses and a free assessment system for social studies teachers and students. Participants will receive free classroom resources as well as breakfast and lunch. Teachers are responsible for their travel expenses and substitute reimbursement.
