Clifford S. Stanford Assistant Vice President

Cliff Stanford is an assistant vice president and director of the Retail Payments Risk Forum at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. In this role, he works in collaboration with industry participants, regulators, and law enforcement to identify, understand, and mitigate emerging risks in retail electronic payments systems.
Previously, Stanford served as assistant vice president in the human resources department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta from 2006 to 2008, where was responsible for managing day-to-day human resource operations and for assisting the Director of Human Resources in overall direction of the District Human Resources function.
A native of Atlanta, Mr. Stanford joined the Bank in 1996 as assistant counsel in the Legal Department. He was promoted to assistant general counsel in 2004. In his legal role, he led the Federal Reserve System's intellectual property protection efforts and was a key Bank resource in numerous legal areas, including contracts and procurement, supervision and regulation, employment law, ethics, payments law, and litigation.
Mr. Stanford earned a juris doctorate from Georgia State University in 1995 and earned his bachelor's degree in history from Emory University in 1992. He has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1995.
