Jackson and Tice Appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Miami Branch Board of Directors

Mike Jackson, chairman and chief executive officer of AutoNation Inc., and Gary L. Tice, chairman and chief executive officer of First National Bank of the Gulf Coast, have been appointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Miami Branch. Their terms began Jan. 1, 2011, and run through Dec. 31, 2013.

Jackson has served in his current position since 2003 and was director and chief executive officer from 1999 to 2003. Previously, he was president and chief executive officer of Mercedes-Benz, USA LLC from 1990 to 1999 and managing partner, Euro Motorcars, Bethesda, Md., from 1979 to 1990.

Jackson is chairman of the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale and a member of the Automotive News "All-Star Team" and Advertising Age's Marketing 100.

Jackson received his bachelor's degree in 1971 from St. Joseph's College. He was inducted into the Wayne Huizenga School of Business Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in 2010 and named one of the "Fifty Visionary Dealers" of all time by Automotive News in 2009. He was recognized as the first recipient of the Sports Illustrated All-Star Dealer Award. He also received the CEO of the Year award from the South Florida CEO magazine in 2006.

Tice has served in his current role since 2009. Previously, he served as chairman and chief executive officer of First National Bankshares of Florida Inc., president and chief executive officer of F.N.B. Corporation and chairman and chief executive officer of First National Bank of Naples.
Tice is a past director of the American Bankers Association (ABA), past member of the Administrative Committee of the Community Bankers Council of the ABA and past director of the Florida Bankers Association (FBA). He has also served as a member of the Financial Services Roundtable and is currently a director of the FBA's BancServ.

Tice received his bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University and is a graduate of the Leadership Collier Program. He was a finalist in 2003 for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Florida Award. He was also recognized by the Collier County Junior Achievement Business Leadership Hall of Fame as a "Champion of Free Enterprise" in 1998.

Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta branch directors provide economic information from their industries and the branch territory to the district bank's president and head office directors, who use the information in formulating monetary policy and making discount rate recommendations. Jackson was appointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Miami Branch by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. Tice was appointed by the Atlanta Fed's board of directors. The Board of Governors appoints three Miami Branch directors, and the Atlanta head office directors appoint four.
