MANDEL APPOINTED VICE PRESIDENT AT THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF ATLANTA
Mary Mandel has been appointed a vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. She also becomes assistant to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s president and first vice president, announced Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed.
In her new position, Mandel will have responsibility for internal corporate communications. She also will serve as the Bank’s corporate secretary, where she will work with the Atlanta Fed’s head office and Branch boards of directors. Additionally, Mandel will serve as the secretary of the Bank’s management committee and the Bank’s Equal Employment Opportunity officer. Previously, Mandel served as assistant vice president, corporate secretary and assistant to the president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.
Mandel began her career with the Miami Branch of the Atlanta Fed in January 1989. She transferred to the Atlanta Branch in July 1995 and was promoted to assistant vice president of the Birmingham Branch in January 1997. She moved to Atlanta in 1998 as assistant vice president in the Bank’s planning and control department.
Mandel received her bachelor’s degree in finance from Florida State University and has completed the Senior Executive Program at Columbia University.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and sections of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation’s central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
