BROWN PROMOTED TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

Christopher G. Brown has been promoted to senior vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, announced Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed. In this capacity, Brown serves as the Atlanta Fed's general auditor, as adviser to the Bank's management and building committees and as a member of the Federal Reserve's Conference of General Auditors.

Brown joined the Bank in 1973 as a bank examiner. He has served as an officer for a number of critical functions during his tenure at the Bank. Brown became vice president and general auditor in 1996; previously, he was an officer in the financial services management function.

As a member of the Federal Reserve's Conference of General Auditors, Brown chairs its Committee on Bank Operations. He also serves as a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors' Professional Issues Committee.

Brown received a bachelor's degree magna cum laude in economics and business administration from Furman University in Greenville, S.C. He attended the Penn State Executive Development Program.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
