I think that the Federal Reserve is our nation's most important institution for keeping inflation in check and our private financial institutions safe and sound. The boards of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks provide insight into the sentiments and plans of the private sector leaders, which is important to the Fed's decision makers. Being asked to be on the board of a Fed branch bank is a high honor. Being able to contribute meaningfully to the most important decisions made about our economy is an extraordinary privilege.
