By Michael Johnson, Senior Vice President Supervision & Regulation Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Information Sessions on Proposed Rulemakings to Implement an Integrated Regulatory Capital Framework (Basel III)
We are offering three sessions for smaller banking organizations (assets up to $50 billion) and one session for larger organizations (assets from $50 billion to $250 billion). The three remaining sessions welcome live participation at the host site or audio conference participation. (The session that took place on June 29 was audio conference only.) The sessions are suitable for senior management of banks, bank holding companies, and savings and loan holding companies. There is no cost to attend.
Please note that registration deadlines are in place for live participation so that we can make the appropriate security arrangements. There is no registration deadline for audio conference participation. Note that a high-level summary of the subjects discussed—and for the live sessions, a list of in-person participants at the event—will be prepared and maintained in the public record related to this rulemaking. The presentations on these calls will be substantially similar, so there is no need to attend every one. As mentioned in "ViewPoint" in the June edition of Financial Update, the Federal Reserve System is hosting several information sessions on proposed rulemakings that would revise and replace the federal banking agencies' current capital rules. (The first was already held on June 29, but others are upcoming.) You may have already received an invitation to join one of the planned sessions, but in case you have not, I want to make you aware of the schedule should you decide to listen in. The sessions will focus on the key provisions of the proposed framework that would apply to all banks, bank holding companies, and savings and loan holding companies, including revisions to 1) minimum regulatory capital requirements, 2) the definition of regulatory capital, 3) the measurement of risk-weighted assets, and 4) the prompt corrective-action framework.
