D6 Factor
June 2008
The D6 factor increased slightly from a historical low of -4.6 percent in April to –4.4 percent in May 2008 on a year-over-year basis. (The historical trend growth rate is normalized to zero in the chart; numbers below zero reflect below-trend growth). Notwithstanding this increase, the D6 Factor continues to reflect economic activity substantially below trend. The current reading of the factor is below the previous two cyclical troughs in May 1991 and November 2001.
