D6 Factor
November 2008
The D6 Factor declined from –4.7 percent in September (on a year-over-year basis and normalized to an average value of zero) to –5.0 percent in October. In December 2007—the beginning of the current U.S. recession, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research—the D6 Factor dropped below its May 1991 and November 2001 cyclical troughs. Since December 2007, the factor has fallen a further 1.3 percentage points.
