Federal Hiring Freeze
On January 23, President Trump issued a memorandum that instituted a temporary, government-wide federal hiring freeze. While Federal Reserve Bank employees are not federal government employees, we are choosing to comply with the spirit of this guidance while remaining positioned to meet our important public service mission. The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that, along with the Board of Governors, make up the Federal Reserve System.
The Atlanta Fed, as we're commonly known, covers the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which includes Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, and parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. As part of the Federal Reserve System, the Atlanta Fed helps regulate and supervise financial institutions, set monetary policy, and operate the nation's payments systems.
