Source: Bank data are taken from the June 30 Summary of Deposits Reports compiled by SNL Securities and filed with the FDIC. Some deposits, particularly corporate deposits, were reported at bank offices other than those where the deposits were taken. Merger and acquisition activity is one major reason for a bank to misreport deposits in this way.
