Fed Financial Services, Retail Payments
The Federal Reserve System’s Financial Services and Retail Payments offices have each launched a newsletter to inform customers of developments in payments services.
The Retail Payments Office (RPO), headquartered at the Atlanta Fed, launched News from FedACH near the end of 2003. The colorful, four-page newsletter is mailed each quarter to automated clearinghouse (ACH) professionals at banks across the country.
With features such as a customer spotlight, industry statistics, a question-and-answer column with industry experts, and ACH-related news, the newsletter will interest ACH professionals, according to Susan Robertson, assistant vice president of the RPO. The newsletter also offers articles on industry and service topics as well as notices of upcoming events and contact information for FedACH customers. The publication is not currently available online, but printed copies can be requested by e-mailing email@example.com.
December 2003 also marked the debut of FedFocus, an online publication of the Fed’s Financial Services Office, based at the Chicago Fed. The monthly FedFocus highlights a range of financial service issues, from Check 21 to cash management services to check restructuring. A feature titled “Ask the Federal Reserve” answers commonly asked questions about why or how the Fed performs its functions. The newsletter’s streamlined design makes it suited to online readers, but it can also be downloaded and printed. Future issues will spotlight such topics as online payment security and using Fedline Web.
