Source: Bank data are taken from the June 30 Summary of Deposits Reports filed with the FDIC, compiled by SNL Securities. Some deposits, particularly corporate deposits, were reported at bank offices other than those where the deposits were taken. Merger and acquisition activity is one major reason for a bank to misreport deposits in this way.
