|Altig Named Atlanta Fed Research Director
David E. Altig has been named senior vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Altig currently serves as vice president and associate director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. His start date has yet to be determined.
Responsibilities at Atlanta Fed
"Dave is an experienced and well-respected macroeconomist," Lockhart said. "Through his work at the Cleveland Fed and in academia, he has earned a strong reputation in the areas of monetary policy, fiscal policy, and international economic research."
Experienced researcher and professor
In addition to his responsibilities at the Cleveland Fed, Altig serves as an adjunct professor of business economics in the graduate school of business at the University of Chicago, the Fisher School of Business at Ohio State University, and the Chinese Executive MBA program sponsored by the University of Minnesota and Lignan College of Sun Yat-Sen University.
Altig joined the Cleveland Fed in 1991 as an economist and was promoted to vice president and associate director of research in 1997. Before joining the Cleveland Fed, he served as an assistant professor of business economics and public policy at Indiana University from 1986 to 1991. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Iowa and his master's and doctoral degrees in economics from Brown University.
