A Note About Our New Look

Juan C. Sanchez
Community Affairs Officer

Unless you are seeing this publication for the first time, I don't need to say that Partners in Community and Economic Development has a new look. It's obvious. We've certainly come a long way since producing our first newsletter in 1991.

Our newsletter and its on-line version reflect technological advances in our society. Changes in technology have revolutionized the way we live and do business, including the world of Community Affairs. Community development has evolved into its own industry, and many of its tools and techniques have become more sophisticated.

We have much to celebrate when we look back over time. Seeing progress continues to give us hope. But some things remain the same, such as the needs for sufficient affordable housing, adequate financial education for both young and old, and ample opportunities for economic advancement. This newsletter doesn't set out to change the world in one fell swoop. Rather, it's designed to shed light on a variety of efforts that further the goals of successful community and economic development.

I'm excited about how we move forward, persevere, and grow in many ways, including the look of this publication. I hope you'll find the contents to be of interest. As always, I encourage you to offer ideas on topics you'd like us to cover. We're listening.
