The Board of Governors and the St. Louis Fed have released the book Economic Mobility: Research & Ideas on Strengthening Families, Communities & the Economy. It features selected papers originally presented at the ninth biennial Federal Reserve System's Community Development Research Conference. They explore a range of issues and concepts central to understanding how—and how well—people are able to move economically.

The overriding themes include:

  • Economic mobility from an individual and family perspective
  • The role of communities in fostering mobility
  • The interplay between individual mobility and overall economic growth.
