W. Michael Madden, president and chief executive officer of Kirkland's Inc., has been appointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Nashville Branch. Madden will complete an unexpired term that ends December 31, 2017, and then serve an additional three-year term ending December 31, 2020.
Madden has served in his current position since 2015. Prior to becoming president and chief executive officer, he held various positions at Kirkland's, including president and chief operating officer, senior vice president and chief financial officer, vice president of finance, and director of finance. Before joining Kirkland's, Madden worked at Trammell Crow Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Madden is a member of the board of directors of Kirkland's Inc. and a member of the National Retail Federation and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He holds a degree in accounting from the University of Memphis.
Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta branch directors provide economic information from the branch territory to the Reserve Bank president and head office directors, who use the information in monetary policy deliberations and making discount rate recommendations. Madden was appointed to the board of directors of the Nashville Branch by the Atlanta Fed's board of directors. The Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., appoints three of the Nashville Branch directors, and the Atlanta head office directors appoint four.
