Hicks Appointed, Butts Reappointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's New Orleans Branch Board of Directors

Michael E. Hicks Jr., president and chief executive officer of Hixardt Technologies Inc., has been appointed, and Lampkin Butts, president and chief operating officer of Sanderson Farms Inc., has been reappointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's New Orleans Branch. Their terms begin January 1, 2018, and run through December 31, 2020.

Hicks has served in his current position since 2001. Prior to Hixardt, he served as IT director for Network Telephone and was a flight instructor in the United States Navy from 1990 to 1999.

Hicks serves as a member on the board of Enhanced Capital. He is a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and the Cybersecurity Task Force. He also serves as the CISCO Network Academy Advisor at Pine Forest High School and University of West Florida. Previously, he was a board member of the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce and Workforce Escarosa.

Hicks received his bachelor's degree in computers and information systems from Florida A&M University in 1988.

Butts has served as president and chief operating officer of Sanderson Farms Inc. since 2004. He has been with the company since 1973, serving in various roles of increasing responsibility, including division manager, director of processing and sales, vice president of sales, and a member of the board of directors.

Butts serves as a board member of the National Chicken Council. His former directorships include the Mississippi Poultry Association, the Southeastern Poultry and Egg Association, the Association for Excellence in Education, and United Way of the Pine Belt.

Butts received his bachelor's degree in marketing and sales management from the University of Mississippi in 1973.

Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta branch directors provide economic information from the branch territory to the district Bank's president and head office directors, who use the information in discussing monetary policy options and making discount rate recommendations. Butts was appointed by the Atlanta Fed's board of directors. Hicks was appointed by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington DC. The Board of Governors appoints three of the directors of the New Orleans Branch, and the Atlanta head office directors appoint four.
