Horton, Jenkins and Jones Reappointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Jacksonville Branch Board of Directors

Oscar J. Horton, president and chief executive officer, Sun State International Trucks LLC; Leerie T. Jenkins Jr., chairman of Reynolds, Smith and Hills Inc.; and D. Kevin Jones, president and chief executive officer, MIDFLORIDA Credit Union, have been reappointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Jacksonville Branch. Their terms begin Jan. 1, 2013, and run through Dec. 31, 2015.

Horton has served in his current position since 2000. Previously, he was vice president and general manager at International Truck & Engine Corp., where he had served in various positions of increasing responsibility since joining the company in 1974. He is a member of the board of directors of the University of South Florida Foundation. Horton is also a director of the Bank of Tampa, Academy Prep of Tampa, the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay and chairman of Goodwill Industries-SunCoast. Horton earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology from the University of Arkansas.

Jenkins joined Reynolds, Smith and Hills Inc. in 1972 as a project planner and held positions of increasing responsibility at various offices throughout the company before becoming chairman and chief executive officer in 1990. In 2012, he transitioned exclusively into the role of chairman of the board. He is a member of the Florida Council of 100 and a former member of the University of North Florida Coggin College of Business Advisory Council. He is past chairman of the Gator Bowl Association, Florida Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Florida. He is a past trustee for the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Jenkins is a director of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida and a former member of the United Way Campaign Cabinet. He is the recipient of the 2009 Distinguished Alumni Medal from the University of Georgia's College of Environment and Design Alumni Association. Jenkins earned a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia and a master's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Michigan.

Jones began his banking career at American Fletcher National Bank in Indianapolis, where he served in various roles of increasing responsibility. He then worked at Cummins Employees Federal Credit Union as vice president of finance. He joined MIDFLORIDA in 1992. Jones is past director and/or officer of several central Florida organizations including, the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, the Florida Credit Union League Service Group, the Drug Prevention Resource Center, the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority, the Downtown Lakeland Partnership, Junior Achievement of Polk County and Junior Achievement of Highlands County. He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Indiana University and an MBA from Florida Southern College.

Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta branch directors provide economic information on their industry and the branch territory to the district bank's president and head office directors, who use the information in formulating monetary policy and making discount rate recommendations. Jenkins was appointed to the board of directors by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. Horton and Jones were appointed by the Atlanta Fed's board of directors. The Board of Governors appoints three of the Jacksonville Branch directors, and the Atlanta head office directors appoint four.
