Herring Promoted to Assistant Vice PresidentFor immediate release May 13, 1998
Janet Herring has been promoted to assistant vice president in the accounting department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, announced Jack Guynn, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Fed. Herring assumes responsibility for accounting operations.
Herring began her career at the Atlanta Fed's Birmingham Branch in 1978 as an auditor. She transferred to the Atlanta office in 1981, and she was promoted to audit manager that same year. Herring held several management positions at the Bank in various departments including accounting and electronic payments prior to being promoted to director of billing support and automation acquisitions in 1995.
Herring earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Tennessee.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed takes part in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
