Southeast residential brokers and builders reported that sales remained ahead of the year-earlier level in August but growth moderated somewhat.
Both builders and brokers indicated that home inventories remained below the year-earlier level across most of the Southeast.

The majority of residential brokers and builders in the region indicated that buyer traffic was ahead of the year-earlier level again in August.
The outlook among brokers and builders remained positive in August by most accounts. The outlook for sales growth over the next several months was similar to responses a year earlier.
Most Southeast builders reported that construction activity was slightly ahead of year-earlier levels in August.
The poll results are based on responses from 46 residential brokers and 23 builders. Responses were collected September 4–13, 2013.
The housing survey's diffusion indexes are calculated as the percentage of total respondents reporting increases minus the percentage reporting declines. Positive values in the index indicate increased activity; negative values indicate decreased activity.
