State Government Finances - April 2010

March total tax revenues continued to decline for all six Sixth District states. Total tax revenues fell 4.2 percent in Alabama, 1.5 percent in Florida, 5.9 percent in Georgia, 22.9 percent in Louisiana, 14.4 percent in Mississippi, and 0.9 percent in Tennessee (on a three-month moving average, year-over-year basis) from 2009.

Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee saw smaller tax decreases in March than in February. The rate of decline in revenues increased for Alabama, Louisiana, and especially in Mississippi, where total tax revenues dropped from 5.2 percent below year-ago levels in February to more than 14.4 percent below year-ago levels in March.
