State Government Finances - November 2009

October total tax revenues continued to decline for five of the six states in the Sixth District. (Louisiana tax revenue for October has not been released.) Total tax revenue fell 6.7 percent in Alabama, 5.7 percent in Florida, 16.5 percent in Georgia, 7.6 percent in Mississippi, and 4.5 percent in Tennessee (on a three-month moving average basis) from a year earlier.

Alabama's and Georgia's tax collections declined further in October compared with Octember; Georgia experiencing the larger drop. Florida, Mississippi, and Tennessee saw smaller declines in tax collections than in the previous month.
