AJ Kumaran has served as cochief executive officer and chief operating officer of Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers since 2017. Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers is an American fast-food chain that specializes in chicken fingers. The company was founded in 1996 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is a now global chain with more than 750 restaurants in 37 states and the Middle East, more than $3.7 billion in annual sales, and more than 55,000 employees worldwide. In 2021, Raising Cane's was one of three restaurant chains listed on Glassdoor.com's top 100 places to work in the United States.
Prior to joining Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers in 2014, Mr. Kumaran served as president and chief operating officer for Gourmet Gulf LLC from 2012 to 2014 and in various leadership roles for Buffets Inc. from 2006 to 2012.
Mr. Kumaran is a member of the board of directors of the New Orleans Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.
