The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta announced today it is introducing a Facebook page and Twitter feed to create a social media presence. These new outlets will provide easy access to information about the Federal Reserve and research and policy views of the Atlanta Fed.

"We're very pleased to expand our outreach into social media to provide our Reserve Bank's perspective on important policy issues related to the national and regional economies and financial system," said Bobbie McCrackin, Atlanta Fed vice president and public affairs officer. "Both of these channels will highlight Atlanta Fed content such as research, blogs, speeches and podcasts."

To follow the Atlanta Fed on Facebook and Twitter, go to the "Follow the Fed" page. Podcasts, video clips and blogs are also available on the Atlanta Fed's site.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida and Georgia, and sections of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. As part of the nation's central banking system, the Atlanta Fed participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides a variety of financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
